Shot dead at Ballivor Barracks, County Meath, as he attempted to bar the door when three men rushed.
At approximately 10:00pm, a man arrived at the door to Ballivor Barracks, County Meath, giving his name as that of a local farmer and claiming his cattle had been stolen.
When Constable Agar opened the door three men rushed in and as William attempted to bar the door a scuffle ensued and the officer was shot dead.
