Roll of Honour Citation

Killed when his traffic patrol car overturned after sliding on an icy road while returning home from duty.

Inspector Walker was killed when his police car overturned after sliding on ice and striking a lamp-post and a tree on Cop Lane, Penwortham, near Preston, as he returned home from duty.

Thomas had served twenty years with the force at Wigan, Leigh, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Manchester and with the Traffic Communications Branch at Police Headquarters in Hutton.

He was survived by his wife and three children.
