Circumstances

Killed, together with two other officers, Supt Poole and Sgt Wilson who were fatally injured, in a railway collision at Billing between a ballast train and the passenger train on which they were returning from the Quarter Sessions at Northampton.

Died from his injuries the day after the passenger train, on which he and two other officers were travelling, was in collision with a train carrying ballast at Billing, as they returned from the Quarter Sessions at Northampton. Superintendent Lewis Poole died the previous day and PS Isaac Wilson died on 14th November.
