Entering a burning house to rescue those trapped he died in the flames within. Posthumously awarded the King's Police and Fire Services Medal for Gallantry.

Having entered a burning house with a colleague and rescued two members of a family trapped inside, he reached a woman and two children but perished in the flames with the two children in his arms.
