Killed in an early-morning road traffic accident while travelling to report for duty at Gough Barracks, Armagh.
About 6:45am, while travelling from his home in Magheralin, County Down, to report for duty at Gough Barracks in Armagh, Constable Willis was involved in a three-car road traffic collision on the A3 Dobbin Road, near the Richhill turn-off.
A speeding driver, travelling in the opposite direction, lost control of his car on a bend, crossed into the oncoming traffic and struck Steven’s car and another, head-on, killing Constable Willis and seriously injuring the other two drivers.
Steven was married with no children.
