Died in hospital from the serious injuries he sustained when he was struck by an articulated lorry in Miles Platting, in central Manchester.

 

PC Ahmed was on motorcycle patrol when he saw a car ahead of him that was suspected to be stolen. The driver of the stolen car suddenly reversed and PC Ahmed manoeuvred his motorcycle out of the way but the driver then drove straight at PC Ahmed and rammed his motorcycle forward into a junction with oncoming traffic.

 

At the time of his death PC Ahmed had completed 14 years 6 months service and had received four commendations for excellent police work. He was also studying in his own time for a law degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.
