Circumstances

In 1982 he was shot whilst intervening when two armed men robbed an off licence in Hayes, Middlesex. He was paralysed and ultimately this led to his death. Awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal for the original incident in 1982.

Found dead at his home having taken his own life, six years after he was shot and paralysed when, on 23rd December 1980, while off duty, he confronted two armed men as they fled an Off-Licence that they had just robbed in Yeading Lane, Hayes, Middlesex.

Awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for his actions.
