Fatally injured by a remote-controlled terrorist bomb hidden in a derelict shop and detonated when his patrol arrived.

Fatally injured by a remote-controlled terrorist bomb hidden in a derelict shop and detonated when his patrol arrived to respond to reports of a robbery at a sweet shop. It later transpired to be a hoax report with the sole purpose of luring RUC officers towards the bomb planted at the corner of Woodvale and Crumlin Road, Belfast.

 

Constable Nesbitt’s funeral was later attacked by a terrorists who detonated a bomb injuring four RUC officers.
