Died in hospital an hour after being fatally injured by an explosion outside the Detective Office near Dublin Castle.
Detective Constable Sinnott died in the first minute or two of Christmas Day 1892 after being fatally injured, at 11:01pm on Christmas Eve, by the explosion of dynamite placed outside the Detective Office in Exchange Court near Dublin Castle.
He was taken to Jervis Street Hospital where he received immediate medical attention for his severed hand, severed leg and other injuries but he was so badly mutilated that he died an hour after the explosion.
Patrick joined the Dublin Metropolitan Police on 18th December 1885 and served with ‘G’ Division.
He was a single man from Clonegal, County Carlow.
