Died from bronchial pneumonia and heart failure after being shot while off duty with a colleague when they were ambushed by terrorists on Mallow Street, Limerick, after visiting the doctor on 19th May.
His colleague, Sergeant Kyran Dunphy, was shot and killed during the ambush.
