Circumstances

Killed with two other officers and a Ministry of Transport Examiner, when their traffic patrol car collided with one lorry and was thrown into the path of another on the opposite carriageway of the A74 near Johnstonebridge.

Two other officers, WPC Isabella Janet G. Harris and PC Gerard Vincent Hogg, and a Ministry of Transport Examiner, were also killed when the car collided with one lorry and was then thrown into the path of another on the opposite carriageway.
