Fatally shot on mobile patrol when ambushed by terrorist gunmen.

Shot and killed when the unmarked armoured car in which he and a colleague were travelling to a pre-arranged appointment came under fire from terrorists using a machine gun with armour-piercing bullets at Belleeks in South Armagh. His colleague was seriously injured.
