Executed the day after he was kidnapped by armed terrorists and charged and found guilty of espionage.
On the evening of 23rd November 1920, about 8:30pm, Constable Dennehy was travelling from his barracks to Knockhall, County Roscommon, when he was kidnapped by armed terrorists.
He was subsequently charged and found guilty of espionage and executed the following day.
