Killed in a terrorist ambush near the village of Ballyrichard, County Cork, after he and other officers were sent, as reinforcements, following an earlier attack in Midleton.
Killed in a terrorist ambush near the village of Ballyrichard, County Cork, after he and other officers were sent, as reinforcements, following an earlier attack on an RIC patrol in Midleton. He had re-joined the Constabulary after having retired as a Sergeant in 1910.
Constables Arthur W. Thorp and Ernest Cecil Dray were both fatally wounded in the original attack and died from their wounds on 30th and 31st December, respectively.
