Whilst on patrol at Plymouth Docks she was struck by a dock locomotive and sustained fatal injuries.

A former RAF clerical worker, Lilian joined the police in April 1943. Her husband was deployed on active service at the time and was unaware of her new career.

 

Shortly after her 26th birthday, Lilian was struck by a locomotive whilst she was patrolling Plymouth Docks and she died at the scene.
