Killed in a motorcycle accident while travelling to report for duty in Tonbridge.
Shortly before 8:00am on the morning of 3rd October 2007, PC Mitchell was travelling to report for duty in Tonbridge when she lost control of her motorcycle and was then struck by a car near The Chequers Inn on Cranbrook Road in Goudhurst.
Katie, from Kingsnorth near Ashford, joined Kent Police in 1996 and during her career she had been based at Ashford, Thanet and Tonbridge.
Chief Superintendent Mark Salisbury, the West Kent Area Commander, said “Those who worked with her and knew her will remember her vibrant, bubbly personality as well as her commitment and enthusiasm towards her work”.
Katie had attended the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Faversham and later studied at Leeds University.
In her spare time, as an animal lover, she volunteered at the Big Cat Sanctuary near Ashford.
She is survived by her parents.
