One of eleven Constables killed when their patrol was ambushed by gunmen near Dromkeen, County Limerick.
One of eleven Constables killed when their thirteen-man patrol, in two vehicles, was ambushed by approximately forty gunmen at Pallasgreen, near Dromkeen, County Limerick, as it was returning from Fedamore. Nine men died during the attack, two died later that day and two, including the District Inspector, managed to escape.
