Died at home from apoplexy after becoming unwell while on duty at Steamboat Quay in Greenock.
Having become unwell while on duty at Steamboat Quay, Greenock, PC Graham was making his way back to the police station when he collapsed in Cathcart Square. He was taken home but died there soon after.
It was reported that John was an excellent and trustworthy officer and was well known for his obliging conduct in directing strangers to the various steamers and their hours.
He was survived by his wife.
