Took his own life by shooting when the balance of his mind was disturbed while depressed at the prospect of making a mistake in his new role in CID.

Took his own life by shooting when the balance of his mind was disturbed while depressed at the prospect of making a mistake in his new role in CID. Having left home, on 27th November, apparently going on duty, he failed to report and, three days later, his body was found lying near a brook in a wood off Preston New Road.
