Fatally injured, alongside Sergeant Steven Alexander Neville Fyfe, when a terrorist time bomb, hidden in the ceiling of a classroom at Ulster Polytechnic, Jordanstown, County Antrim, exploded during a lecture. Sergeant William Robert McDonald, died from his injuries eight days later.
