Circumstances

Ambushed by an assassination sqaud mere yards from the new Central Police Station on Brunswick Street he was shot at such close range his clothes had scorch marks on. Despite his wounds he was able to draw his revolver and fire one round before collapsing. He was taken to Mercer's Hospital but died of his injuries.
