Declared dead on arrival at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, after being fatally wounded when he was stabbed three times as he attempted to arrest a handbag thief.
Late at night, while off duty, walking through Covent Garden to meet his wife, DC Morrison spotted a thief with items stolen from a nearby public house. Despite being threatened with a knife, he chased the thief and cornered him outside the High Commission of India, in Aldwych, where the officer was stabbed.
Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal.
