Died soon after being shot near the barracks at Falcarragh, County Donegal, by gunmen occupying an empty house.
Shot at 9:50pm, about fifty yards from the barracks at Falcarragh, County Donegal, by gunmen occupying an empty house. Several Constables rushed out from the barracks, fired on the attackers and took the officer, who had sustained a wound to the chin, back to the barracks but he died about twenty minutes later.
