Died from complications following a fall from his bicycle on duty.

He died because of an accident on his pedal cycle whilst on duty on 12th February 1903. The next day he went sick and was attended to by a doctor, however on 8th March he died. The corners jury returned a verdict in accordance with medical records that death was meningitis, as a result of the injuries caused by the fall.
