Killed while carrying out a road check for a stolen car at Weyhill.

Having been on duty during the day in Andover he was at home in his police house at Weyhill when, that night, he was called and told that a suspect stolen car was approaching from Ludgershall.

Putting his uniform back on he went out to look out for the car, but was killed when he was struck by two vehicles coming from differing directions on the junction of Amesbury Road and Ludgershall Road.

During the war PC Dolan served with the Royal Air Force.

He was married with five children.
