Died from the injuries he sustained three days earlier when, during an enemy air raid, Manchester Division HQ was demolished by a high explosive bomb.

Died from the injuries he sustained three days earlier, in the early hours of 23rd December when, during an enemy air raid, Manchester Division HQ in East Union Street, Old Trafford, was demolished by a high explosive bomb. Four other officers were killed that morning and another died from his injuries on 1st January 1941. Posthumously awarded a King’s Commendation for Brave Conduct.
