Died two days after being fatally injured when his patrol was ambushed near Granard, County Longford. Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.

Died two days after being fatally injured when his patrol of two vehicles and seventeen men was ambushed at Ballinlee, near Granard, County Longford. Temporary Cadet George Bush also died on this same day while District Inspector Francis Worthington Craven and Temporary Cadet John A. Houghton both died during the attack on 2nd February. Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
