Circumstances

Having commenced duty with a colleague they were pushing their bicycles up the Ballymenoch Hill, near Hollywood in the evening when a speeding car approach them from behind.

The car swerved, it hit Constable Anderson and his bicycle, knocking them both to the side. Constable Anderson sustained fatal injuries and the car sped off.

Died after sustaining fatal injuries, while on patrol during the evening, when he was struck from behind by a speeding car that failed to stop as he and a colleague were pushing their bicycles up Ballymenoch Hill, near Hollywood, County Down.
