Roll of Honour Citation

Whilst rescuing a male in distress on the railway tracks he was struck by a passing train. Sustaining fatal injuries he died five days later.

On Thursday 24 August 2023 just before 7pm officers from Nottinghamshire Police responded to reports of a male in distress on the railway lines at Balderton, near Newark Northgate Station

Tracing a 29 year old male Sgt Saville entered the rail network to help save him and whilst doing so was struck by a passing train.

Both Sgt Saville and the distressed male were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

On Tuesday 29 August 2023 Sgt Saville died from his injuries surrounded by his family within the hospital.

Sgt Saville originally joined the Metropolitan Police, transferring to Nottinghamshire Police in February 2017.
