Died following a collision on the A470 near Rhayader as he travelled home from duty.

Having served with the Dyfed-Powys Police for 21 years, he was the Roads Policing Unit Inspector. He previously worked as an Inspector in Ceredigion, but the majority of his career was with Specialist Operations.

Gareth started his career in Lllandrindod Wells and quickly moved to armed response, where he spent the next eight years, also joining the Specialist Firearms Rapid Intervention team.

In 2012 Gareth transferred to the Roads Policing Unit based initially in Brecon and then in Newtown.

Gareth became a police driving instructor, road death lead investigator, pursuit tactical advisor, and team leader on the motorcycle VIP Escort Team. He escorted world leaders and members of the Royal Family across Wales, London and Scotland. In 2017 Gareth was promoted to RPU Sergeant, and then to Ceredigion Inspector in 2020.

He is survived by his wife and their three sons.
