Shot and killed by terrorists while shopping in Fair Green, Rathdrum, County Wicklow.

Constable Cormer was with two other Constables shopping at a provisions store when a shot was heard outside and the other two Constable went to investigate. As soon as the two Constables left the store, three men, who were inside the store at the time, opened fire on Constable Cormer, killing him instantly.
