Died in hospital a month after sustaining serious head injuries and losing an eye when, on 5th September, a terrorist blast bomb was thrown at a police cordon during a riot on Charles Street, Portadown, County Armagh.
 
Constable O’Reilly had been a member of the RUC for nine years and was based in the village of Loughgall, County Armagh. He had three young children aged ten years, four years and fifteen weeks. He was buried at Keran Cemetery, Portadown, after a service at his home at Milfort Gardens, Waringstown.
