Accidentally killed after being thrown from his bicycle while on patrol in Mitcheldean.

While on cycle patrol in Mitcheldean, PC Cooper, the Constable in charge of the police station there, was accidentally thrown from his bicycle and killed.

Ernest joined the force in 1899 and had been stationed at Gloucester, Stow-In-The-Wold, Northleach and Cheltenham where he served two years before being transferred to Mitcheldean.

PC Cooper was a married man.
