While responding to an emergency call concerning an assault at a public house in Armagh City, Constable Maguire and two colleagues, Constable Gordon Arnott Anderson and Reserve Constable Mabel Elizabeth Cheyne, were killed when their RUC vehicle ran out of control and struck a bridge wall at Ballymoran, between Armagh and Newtownhamilton, County Armagh.
