Killed while on duty at Hackney Downs Railway Station when he was crushed by a train that caught him and dragged him under.

Killed while on duty at Hackney Downs Railway Station when, despite stepping off the line and standing by some girders, he was crushed by a train that caught him and dragged him under as he proceeded down the track to make contact with Metropolitan Police officers regarding the theft of a coat. He had previously served in the Metropolitan Police.
