Died from the injuries she sustained the previous day when a mortar bomb struck her police vehicle.

On the night of 27th March, Constable McMurray was the observer in an unmarked police car that was the lead vehicle in a two-vehicle patrol.

Colleen and her colleagues were returning to Corry Square Police Station after providing security support to officers entering the town for a change of shift, while also providing routine community policing.

At 11:35pm, as they travelled along Merchants Quay beside the canal in Newry, County Down, a horizontal mortar hidden in a parked car was launched and struck the lead vehicle, seriously injuring both Constable McMurray and her colleague.

She was taken to hospital but died the following day.

She was survived by her husband.
