Circumstances

Constables Murdock and Clarke were abducted by terrorists while off duty at Binnion, County Donegal. The body of Thomas Clarke was found on 10 May in the sea with gunshot wounds and that of Charles Murdock has never been recovered.

Presumed dead after he and his colleague, Constable Alexander Thomas Clarke, were abducted by terrorists on 8th May 1921, while off duty walking together in Binnion, County Donegal. Constable Clarke’s body, with a gunshot wound to the head, was found in the sea the following day but Constable Murdock’s body has never been found.
