Died the day after being shot when he and a colleague were ambushed by gunmen.
Died in the Limerick Military Hospital the day after being shot alongside his colleague, Constable James Rocke, who died the previous day, when they were ambushed by several gunmen as they left church in the village of Toomevara, County Tipperary.
