Circumstances

On the 29th May 1858 in the Canongate area of Edinburgh Constable Angus had cause to arrest a male who immediately began to struggle. During the struggle Constable Angus was stabbed in the chest and the thigh and died from his injuries the following month.

Died from the injuries he sustained eight days earlier when, in the Canongate area of Edinburgh, he was stabbed in the chest and thigh while attempting to arrest a deranged man armed with a knife.
