Died in hospital shortly after being seriously injured in a road traffic accident when his car struck a lamp-post.
DS Hill died in Crumpsall Hospital, Manchester, shortly after being seriously injured in a road traffic accident on Oldham Road, Manchester, when his car struck a lamp-post, while he was on enquiries with the Drug Squad.
After being freed from the vehicle by firemen and police he was taken to Ancoats Hospital before being transferred to Crumpsall Hospital.
Brian had served in the force for about sixteen years and was promoted to Detective Sergeant in September 1963.
Five years later he took operational charge of the Drug Squad.
