Killed alongside a colleague by a terrorist car bomb that exploded in Lower Donegall Street, Belfast.

Constable O’Neill’s colleague, Constable Ernest McAllister, was also killed when the bomb exploded outside the offices of the ‘News Letter’ newspaper in Lower Donegall Street, Belfast.

Five civilians were also killed.
