Died the day after he and two other officers were shot in a terrorist ambush in Coolavokig, near Ballyvourney, County Cork. His commanding officer, Major James Seafield-Grant MC, died during the attack and Temporary Cadet Cleve Lindsay Soady died on 1st March 1921.
