Circumstances

All Metropolitan Stations were warned to be on the look out for a stolen car dashing round London without lights on. PC Lawes saw the vehicle whilst on patrol in Garrett Lane, Tooting. Stepping out to stop it he was struck and knocked down. He was taken to hospital but died of injuries.
