Circumstances

While working together with several other officers, attempting to rescue a drowning man from a very rough sea at Blackpool, she and two colleagues were swept away by the waves and all three and the man were drowned.

Drowned alongside her colleagues, PC Gordon Alexander Connolly and PC Colin Morrison, while trying to rescue a man who had entered a very rough sea off Gynn Square, Blackpool, to rescue his dog. The man also drowned.
