Killed when he was struck by a car while chasing a burglar on foot who had intentionally entered traffic.

After responding to a burglar alarm at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff in the early evening, he had left his vehicle and was pursuing a suspect on foot across the busy North Road, when he was accidentally struck by a passing car, sustaining multiple injuries from which he died in hospital a few hours later.

He was appointed in August 2000, since when he had worked in the Cardiff area. He was stationed at Cardiff Central Police Station, where he was known as an enthusiastic and dedicated officer, who was well liked and respected by those he worked with.

He was survived by his wife, their daughter and step-daughter.
