Killed when he was struck by a car while on foot chasing a burglar who intentionally ran amongst traffic.

After responding to a burglar alarm at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff in the early evening, PC James left his vehicle and was pursuing a suspect on foot across the busy North Road, when he was accidentally struck by a passing car and sustained multiple injuries from which he died in hospital a few hours later.

Andrew was appointed in August 2000, after which he worked in the Cardiff area. He was stationed at Cardiff Central Police Station, where he was known as an enthusiastic and dedicated officer, who was well liked and respected by those with whom he worked.

He was survived by his wife, their daughter and step-daughter.
