Killed when he and his colleague, PC Bryan Reginald Moore, who died in hospital later the same day, prepared to assist in stopping a speeding van being pursued by police from Solihull in the West Midlands, when the driver, who was drunk, deliberately rammed their police vehicle as they waited in a layby on the A42 near Worthington in the early hours.
