Died in hospital soon after being shot in the back and fatally wounded when he became suspicious of three young men in Vicarage Road, Wolverhampton.

Died in the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire General Hospital, soon after being shot in the back and fatally wounded by one man while chasing another, who had knocked PC Willits’ helmet from his head, as he approached three young men in Vicarage Road, Wolverhampton, to question them about their business as the officer, who had commenced patrolling his beat at 6:00am, found it odd they were up and about so early.
