Circumstances

Killed when escorting a prisoner from Rochdale to Salford. They were travelling in a police car driven by another officer. As the vehicle was being driven over Slattocks Bridge in Middleton, it failed to straighten on the slight bend and collided with a lamp standard.

Fatally injured when the police car in which he was a passenger, escorting a prisoner from Rochdale to Salford, collided with a lamppost as it was crossing Slattocks Bridge in Middleton.
