Fatally shot by a terrorist sniper at a vehicle checkpoint in Belcoo, Co. Fermanagh.
Reserve Constable Corbett was on a joint RUC and Army patrol in the village of Belcoo, Co. Fermanagh on 14 November 1992.
Leaving the RUC station about 11.20pm the patrol moved towards the border on foot to establish a cross border vehicle checkpoint they conducted rolling vehicle checks as they moved through the village.
The patrol came under attack by a terrorist sniper about 11.30pm, RCon Corbett was hit once in the head from gunfire believed to have come from across the border with the Irish Republic.
He was medically evacuated to hospital but roughly four hours later he died from his injuries.
In 1986, Reserve Constable Corbett joined the part-time RUC and in 1990 he moved to the full-time reserve RUC. In December 1991 he was transferred to Belcoo.
